  8. In 1984, Steffi competed for West Germany 
  9. at the Olympics. Tennis was a demonstra-
  10. tion sport at the Games, which were held in
  11. Los Angeles, California, and Steffi was the
  12. youngest tennis player there. Still, she 
  13. played like a champion and won an honorary
  14. gold medal.

  16. The tennis world soon heard a lot more from 
  17. Steffi. She started 1985 ranked 22nd and 
  18. finished the year ranked 6th. In 1986, 
  19. she got her first pro tournament victory 
  20.
